Daffodils Day Nursery

Confidentiality and Our Policies

The nursery has a strict confidentiality policy. We aim to provide a safe environment where parents and staff feel secure that any personal information will be treated in confidence. Information related to children and parents will only be disclosed on a need to know basis. Staff will not discuss the children or information to others outside the nursery.

Parents will have access to information regarding their own child. Individual files will be used for each child to ensure confidentiality and will be kept in a secure place without public access. Issues relating to members of staff must only be discussed with the manager.

  Extra support

Special Needs

Daffodils has a special needs policy. Any concerns you may have regarding development of your child will be taken seriously by us. As part of our policy we respect children as individuals.

If for any reason your child requires extra support, we would be prepared to undertake further training and seek help from appropriate outside agency.

Any arrangements would be made in close discussion with the parent / carer in complete confidence.

Discipline

At Daffodils we will encourage positive behaviour amongst the children. This takes the form of sharing, taking turns and playing cooperatively.

We encourage respect for each other, the equipment and the environment. We praise good behaviour; boosting self esteem and making the child feel good about themselves and build confidence.

If a child is acting disruptively we will communicate clearly, therefore trying to avoid tantrums caused through frustration. The nursery has many strategies to deal with behaviour including one to one with an adult.   Equal opportunities for all

Equal Oppurtunities

Daffodils believe that no child, individual or family should be excluded on the grounds of age, gender, sexuality, class, family status, means, disability, colour, ethnic origin or belief. We aim to ensure that all who work or volunteer will have an equal chance. Staff will be appropriately trained.

Discriminatory remarks and behaviour from anybody be they working, attending or visiting the nursery are unacceptable.

Safeguarding Children

Our priority is the welfare of the child. As a professional establishment we are legally bound to report any form of suspected abuse that may become apparent whilst the child is in our care.

Ofsted and Social Services will be notified of any child protection concerns that we may have.

Any records relating to a child’s behaviour, physical condition or appearance will be kept confidentially and separately.

Additional information for 1 to 2 year olds

The nursery takes toddlers from one year. The Early Years Foundation Stage will be followed for these children. There will be times of the day that these children will be able to mix with the two year olds. Age appropriate activities will be available throughout the day.

Under two’s will be provided with snacks, tea and lunch. Food can be pureed if needed too. If your child eats baby food, this would have to be provided by the parent. Formula milk, bottles, nappies and wipes would have to be provided by the parent too. Staff will record individual child’s information i.e.: food, nappy change, sleep etc on their information board. This can be viewed by the parent at the time of collection.
